Calculate and explain in detail what you had to purchase to start your business and what you think will be your profits.
What we had to purchase to start our business, to create our product was, multiple different kinds of cheeses, Sharp cheddar cheese, mozzarella cheese, and pepper jack cheese. We also had to purchase garlic, and crescent rolls. I think that our profits will be fairly good, because our rolls have very cheap prices, and are delicious.

Essential Question 16
How did your presentation go? If you were an investor would you invest in your company and why? What is each person in your group doing to improve the marketing campaign?
I believe that our presentation went very well, although, I wasn't here the day before, so I was not informed that the judges were going to be here, and that I needed to dress more professionally that day. other than this, I think my partner and I did a great job presenting our project. If I was and investor I would invest in my company. I think that our company was a great idea. States outside of West Virginia don't have pepperoni rolls, and even most places here don't offer the same services that we do. We can ship and customize them to the customers preferences, which makes our company also another great investment. Well, since Eric is still not able to be here, Jacob and I are going to add contact information to each of our print outs, such as the color ad, the black and whit ad, the packaging logo, and even the poster, which we are going to have to print out on larger paper. this is what we are going to do to improve.

Essential Question 15
The business plans are completed. Explain in detail the process your company followed to complete the business plan what you learned during this process.
The first thing we did to begin our business plan, is to divide up the sections between each person in our group, to determine whose responsibility it would be to write each different part for the business plan. Once this was decided, then we all began doing putting things in to place. We all had to do our own research and collaborate on ideas, so we were all in agreement with the information that we were going to be putting in the business plan. We each did a couple sections ourselves. We typed them off, and then printed them out. once we were all finished we stapled them together to be turned in. Ms. Stalnaker reviewed them and returned them to us to revise.

Essential Question 14
Write 3 paragraphs about things that you are thankful. One for school, one for family and one for community.
I am thankful for a lot of things in my life, and one of those things is school. Most kids don't like school very much, or it is hard for them, but I really enjoy school. School isn't always easy for me, but I'm very thankful that it is a part of my life. School is where you can learn, where you further your knowledge, and even where you meet your friends. Some places don't provide the opportunity to attend a public school, and that is honestly very sad to me. I am just thankful that I can go to school and learn, and further my education for the future.
Another thing I am thankful for is my family. Your family are the people that you can count on when no one else is there. No family is perfect, and mine surely won't ever be. But, I am very thankful for each person in my family. Without my grandparents love and support, I wouldn't be where I am today. They push me to do my best, but love me when things get hard. They never give up on me, and are always there when I need them. This is why I am very thankful for my family.
I am also thankful for my community. Things are getting harder today in life. Most people don't have as much as others, and can only count on those in the community to reach out to for help. I am thankful for our community, because although there aren't many people out there who would stop and help, in our town, well in West Virginia it seems, that people are more friendly and willing to lend a helping hand when someone needs it. I have helped multiple times with a church group to provide food to people who needed it, gave christmas boxes to kids across seas who wouldn't have had presents otherwise, and even served thanksgiving dinners that were held there for people who had no family anymore. Being a part of things like this really opened my eyes. I know those people really appreciated part of our community coming together to help them, and so did I.

School/Technology Opinion(Essential Question 13)
Write three strong paragraphs stating your opinion on a subject involving school, technology, or the use of technology in school.
The controversy over weather so much technology is a good or bad thing, has been discussed for years now. There are so many different sides and opinions to this subject. Technology has drastically advanced over the years, in our social and personal life, and also in school. So is this necessarily a good thing to involve in our everyday lives?
Most people stick to one side or another. Some believe that technology is the greatest thing ever, and others think that it is not as much help as interacting face to face would be. As for myself, I believe that technology can be a good, and a bad thing. Technology in school I feel, is a wonderful thing to have. Today, we have smart boards, laptops, clicker test games, mac computers, iPads, all the technology you could wish for. In school I think that technology can be a great thing. A lot of textbooks aren't even used anymore, because most information you will need can be found on the internet. Instead of having to search for a subject in a book, you can easily find your answer online. Technology has definitely advanced work, studying, and testing in school. This is a really great thing.
Now my opinion for technology in social life is somewhat different. I think in you social life at times technology can be a good thing, but it can also have a negative effect. Social networking on our phones is supposed to connect us to each other, but instead of meeting face to face, we are texting, face-timing, calling, posting, clicking, and sending. What happened to being with your friends? What happened to meeting someone in person? What happened to only knowing what your friends were doing because you were with them, or because they told you themselves? Yes, I think technology can be a great thing, and it does connect us in more ways than one. But as far as social life goes, I think that instead of being social and looking up from our phones, we are now going online to see what everyone is doing, while we are alone reading it. Using emoticons to show emotions, instead of someone seeing it on our faces.

Essential Question 12
Explain in detail (Not just list) 5 things you learned during the research for your business plan.
During our business planning, we were asked to research many different things that are needed in order to start a business. I learned many things during this assignment, but I will tell you 5 of them. The first thing I learned was development. Before beginning a business you must be sure of what you're going to be producing, you must have a list of products and services that you are going to be able to provide. The second thing I learned is the process, starting a business is not as easy as it seems, it takes a lot of work. The next thing I learned was planning. Before you start a business, you must plan ahead for months, and maybe even years, to make sure that your business will run steadily. The fourth thing I learned was employment. Running a business on your own definitely would be very hard, so you've got to have a staff of employees to help get your business up and running smoothly. The last thing that I learned were the finances. I didn't realize just how much money you have to put in to start a business. You have to pay bills, and taxes, salary for employees, appliances, the cost of your building, and plenty of more costs. We learned that it actually take about three years before a business starts making money after they have been in service, that is a very long time.

You have learned some basics of Flash. Explain in detail 3 things you have learned about Flash this week.
Three things that I have learned about flash this week, is how to make a story, use shape and line tools, and move drawings. To make a story, you start by adding a title page and background, you lock the background, and add a new slide, then you just continue editing your story using text, pictures, and a background. To use shape, and line tools, you just select either the shape tools, or the line tool, and drag across the screen to shape or size and color that you want it to be. To move drawings, you just need to double click and drag to another place on the page.

Essential Question 9
This week you have been working on you Photo Assignment. In detail explain what has been easy to complete for it and then explain in detail what has been difficult. What do you think should be done differently with the Photo Assignment?
In the Photo Assignment, I think that it was easiest for me to edit the photos that I took. This was easy for me, because I really enjoy playing with the tools on photoshop to change the hue, brightness, vibrance, and saturation of a photo. It's really cool being able to experiment with different tools, and options to make your picture look even better than it did before. I would have to say that the hardest thing for me was the guideline. Dealing with editing, and putting so many different picture into a template, while matching the guideline, was a kind of difficult process. What I think should be done differently is really nothing. This was a very fun assignment for me, and it wasn't very hard, so I wouldn't have changed anything about the process.

Essential Question 8
Upload the 2 photos you like the best of the ones you took the last two days and explain why you like them the best.
I really like both of these photos that I took. I like both of these because we were shown how to use super macro on the cameras, and super macro shows objects in very great detail. I like these both because I feel that they are very eye-catching, colorful, and very distinct in detail.
9 Weeks Exam
9 Week Exam
To create this image, first I went to the wiki and saved three different photos. I saved two bee photos, and one flower photo. I next opened up photoshop, and opened one of the bee pictures and the flower picture. I clicked on the tab with the bee picture, and used the quick selection tool to select the bee. i next copied, and pasted the bee picture to the picture of the flower. I used free transform to make the bee a lot smaller. Lastly, i just played with different photo editing tools to make the bee look like it was in the original picture of the flower. I used the smudge tool, the blur tool, and I also used brightness, and vibrance on the bee, and on the background. Then, I saved it for the web.

Essential Question 7
You are beginning the process of developing a company. What are some of the things you think you need to do to start a company? Explain.
Yesterday we were assigned to groups to start creating our own company. Starting a company of your own is not necessarily something that can just be thrown together. building your own company takes a lot of hard work and dedication, to accomplish the goals that you need to reach in order to be successful. I think that some things we will need to do to start a company would be first to get a catchy name. It all starts with a name. If our business has a name that sounds catchy, and fun, and is something that people will remember, then it could bring a lot of business to our company. Next we will need to figure up what kinda of different products and services we would like to offer to our customers. once we have our products and services established, then we need to learn the process. By this I mean that we need to have a game plan. We need to discuss the processes it will take to manage and produce our products, and ensure that it will be affordable and distributed from a convenient location, maybe in a very populated city or town. Once we have a place, product, services, and game plan, then we need to start advertising. We need to get our name out there so that people know about our company. This is what we will need to do to get our company started correctly, and efficiently.

Essential Question 6
Explain what has been your favorite activity during the first 6 weeks of class and how you created it. Explain in detail. Add the image to your blog.
During the first six weeks we executed many activities. Out of these, I would have to say that my favorite was the realistic card design.
During the first six weeks we executed many activities. Out of these, I would have to say that my favorite was the realistic card design.
I decided on making a realistic Christmas card. To make this card, I first went onto Adobe Photoshop. I needed a background for my card, so I used the rectangle tool to cover the document. I then used the color effect tab to change the coloring so that it was a bright red, with a white diagonal stripe down the center. Next it was time to decorate! I used the shape tool to create, and place a white bow in the center of the diagonal stripe. Next, I used the shape tool again to place many blue, and white snowflakes on the card. I placed a green tree on the card, and continued using the shape tool to put little flakes on the tree to make it look like snow. I then took the paintbrush tool, and placed little white stars on the background of the card. Lastly, I used the text tool to write "Wishing You a Very Merry Christmas," on my realistic card design. This was my favorite of all the activities, because it was fun to create, and decorate your very own card.

Essential Question 5
What is the KISS theory? Why is it important to remember when designing logos?
The KISS theory means to keep it simple, stupid. This theory is important to remember when designing logos for a lot of reasons. One of the mains reasons is because when you are designing a logo, most places, and companies don't want something that is too complex. Take Nike for example, they have the same font for every shirt, shorts, shoes, or any product that it is written on, the lettering doesn't change. They do this so that when you see a product with Nike written on it, you know that it is the same company every time, because their logo doesn't change. It's the same thing with their famous Nike "swoosh." You will always recognize the Nike "swoosh," because it is simple, and it never changes. When designing logos, another reason to keep it simple, is for the fact that someone is going to be using your logo. In class we did designs for the "Own It!" logo, the "RTC Auto Service" logo, and the "RTC Industrial Maintenance" logo. All of these must be kept simple, because they could end up somewhere on a shirt, shorts, or anywhere else just like any other logo that has been created. You must keep your logo simple for this fact. If a logo is too complex, it is going to be very difficult to reproduce, and print onto something else. This is why the KISS theory is very important to remember when creating a logo.

Essential Question 4
You were introduced to Illustrator today. What type of graphics does Illustrator create? How is that different than Photoshop? Which do you think you like better and why?
We learned a few different things about Adobe Illustrator today. Illustrator is mostly used for creating images, logos, or billboards. On Illustrator you are able to use many different graphics. You are able to take the pencil tool and create shapes or lines, in which you are able to take different tools, like the text tool, and follow the path vertically, or even fill in the shape itself. Illustrator is used mostly for those things, because no matter what the shape or size is that you make the image, it never becomes pixelated like the images do in Photoshop. I think that Photoshop is much better for using when you are editing or changing a picture. Illustrator is better used for when you are creating a logo or emblem. As of right now I am starting to like Adobe Illustrator better, because I understand it a little more clearly than Photoshop, and I feel as though it is much easier to use. I like how you can use symbols and images, and it won't distort the view even if you make the image larger. I am glad that we are learning how to use both applications although, because they are both very good programs, and are very fun and easy to use when doing projects.

Essential Question 3
Explain what the dpi is for pictures for the web and for print and why they are different. Describe 3 Photoshop tools that you learned this week.
The DPI for pictures for the web, and the DPI for pictures that are to be printed are very different. DPI stands for dots per inch. When you save a picture for the web your resolution for your pricture must be set to 72, because the internet can only hold so much, otherwise it would look pixelated. For a printer to print out clearly, the picture resolution must be at 300, so that it prints out looking like the origional picture did. Three different tools I learned in Photoshop this week were the Magic Wand Tool, the Brush Tool, and the Gradient Color Tool. The Magic Wand Tool is a tool that allows you to delete unwanted space or color from behind a picture. The Brush Tool allows you to brush on shapes, and images. Lastly, the Gradient Color Tool allows you to take mutiple colors and give it a fading gradient looking effect.

Essential Question 2
Explain what has been your favorite activity this week and how you created it. Add the image to your blog.
We did a lot of very interesting and fun activities this week. If I had to pic a favorite although, I would have to say that my favorite was our "Trace Face" project. We were given partner before class had started. Next we were instructed to go to our partner's computer, and us the photo booth to take a normal picture of ourselves, then we returned to our computers. We we instructed to use the Adobe Photoshop to start out project. This was my favorite project this week, and this is how I did it.
This project was completed using Adobe Photoshop. I took the original photo of emily, and traced it by layers. Tracing one by one, the eyes, nose, eyebrows, mouth, neck, hair, and shoulders. To do this project I used a pencil tool, with 1px, and an eraser. Once finished I dropped the background, and used the text tool to write "Emily by Kiana," to label the work.

Essential Question 1
What is one of your strengths? Weakness? Why should I hire you?
My name is Kiana Hartman, and I am here to tell you about my strengths, and my weaknesses. I have a wide variety of strengths. Some strengths that I do have, include drawing. I would say that I am generally a talented artist, and it is something that I love to do. I would also say that I am very good at doing things hands-on, I learn better by doing, rather than watching. I'm a very quick learner. I am very good at working in groups, but I also do very well working by myself. I'm good at english, and public speaking, spelling, and quick typing. Besides all of the things that I am able to do, I do have some weaknesses, that I am working to compensate with. One thing that I am sometimes, but not always good at, is math. I check my work, and do it slowly to make sure I get everything correct, but it is something that I need to work on for future circumstances. Another thing that I am not very good at is working quickly on something that I have never done before. In some instances, I have been expected to pick up on something quickly, that had just been told to me. I am better at hands-on learning, so progressing speedily after just learning something is a little difficult for me. By compensating with this, I try my best to keep up pace with the rest of the class, and listen carefully to the instructions being given to me. I believe that I should be hired for the job, because I am a very hard worker, I am very punctual, and dependable. I work to my best ability, and never give up, this is why I feel that I would be the best applicant for this job.
