Write 3 paragraphs about things that you are thankful. One for school, one for family and one for community.
I am thankful for a lot of things in my life, and one of those things is school. Most kids don't like school very much, or it is hard for them, but I really enjoy school. School isn't always easy for me, but I'm very thankful that it is a part of my life. School is where you can learn, where you further your knowledge, and even where you meet your friends. Some places don't provide the opportunity to attend a public school, and that is honestly very sad to me. I am just thankful that I can go to school and learn, and further my education for the future.
Another thing I am thankful for is my family. Your family are the people that you can count on when no one else is there. No family is perfect, and mine surely won't ever be. But, I am very thankful for each person in my family. Without my grandparents love and support, I wouldn't be where I am today. They push me to do my best, but love me when things get hard. They never give up on me, and are always there when I need them. This is why I am very thankful for my family.
I am also thankful for my community. Things are getting harder today in life. Most people don't have as much as others, and can only count on those in the community to reach out to for help. I am thankful for our community, because although there aren't many people out there who would stop and help, in our town, well in West Virginia it seems, that people are more friendly and willing to lend a helping hand when someone needs it. I have helped multiple times with a church group to provide food to people who needed it, gave christmas boxes to kids across seas who wouldn't have had presents otherwise, and even served thanksgiving dinners that were held there for people who had no family anymore. Being a part of things like this really opened my eyes. I know those people really appreciated part of our community coming together to help them, and so did I.

School/Technology Opinion(Essential Question 13)
Write three strong paragraphs stating your opinion on a subject involving school, technology, or the use of technology in school.
The controversy over weather so much technology is a good or bad thing, has been discussed for years now. There are so many different sides and opinions to this subject. Technology has drastically advanced over the years, in our social and personal life, and also in school. So is this necessarily a good thing to involve in our everyday lives?
Most people stick to one side or another. Some believe that technology is the greatest thing ever, and others think that it is not as much help as interacting face to face would be. As for myself, I believe that technology can be a good, and a bad thing. Technology in school I feel, is a wonderful thing to have. Today, we have smart boards, laptops, clicker test games, mac computers, iPads, all the technology you could wish for. In school I think that technology can be a great thing. A lot of textbooks aren't even used anymore, because most information you will need can be found on the internet. Instead of having to search for a subject in a book, you can easily find your answer online. Technology has definitely advanced work, studying, and testing in school. This is a really great thing.
Now my opinion for technology in social life is somewhat different. I think in you social life at times technology can be a good thing, but it can also have a negative effect. Social networking on our phones is supposed to connect us to each other, but instead of meeting face to face, we are texting, face-timing, calling, posting, clicking, and sending. What happened to being with your friends? What happened to meeting someone in person? What happened to only knowing what your friends were doing because you were with them, or because they told you themselves? Yes, I think technology can be a great thing, and it does connect us in more ways than one. But as far as social life goes, I think that instead of being social and looking up from our phones, we are now going online to see what everyone is doing, while we are alone reading it. Using emoticons to show emotions, instead of someone seeing it on our faces.

Essential Question 12
Explain in detail (Not just list) 5 things you learned during the research for your business plan.
During our business planning, we were asked to research many different things that are needed in order to start a business. I learned many things during this assignment, but I will tell you 5 of them. The first thing I learned was development. Before beginning a business you must be sure of what you're going to be producing, you must have a list of products and services that you are going to be able to provide. The second thing I learned is the process, starting a business is not as easy as it seems, it takes a lot of work. The next thing I learned was planning. Before you start a business, you must plan ahead for months, and maybe even years, to make sure that your business will run steadily. The fourth thing I learned was employment. Running a business on your own definitely would be very hard, so you've got to have a staff of employees to help get your business up and running smoothly. The last thing that I learned were the finances. I didn't realize just how much money you have to put in to start a business. You have to pay bills, and taxes, salary for employees, appliances, the cost of your building, and plenty of more costs. We learned that it actually take about three years before a business starts making money after they have been in service, that is a very long time.
