School/Technology Opinion(Essential Question 13)

Write three strong paragraphs stating your opinion on a subject involving school, technology, or the use of technology in school.

The controversy over weather so much technology is a good or bad thing, has been discussed for years now. There are so many different sides and opinions to this subject. Technology has drastically advanced over the years, in our social and personal life, and also in school. So is this necessarily a good thing to involve in our everyday lives?

Most people stick to one side or another. Some believe that technology is the greatest thing ever, and others think that it is not as much help as interacting face to face would be. As for myself, I believe that technology can be a good, and a bad thing. Technology in school I feel, is a wonderful thing to have. Today, we have smart boards, laptops, clicker test games, mac computers, iPads, all the technology you could wish for. In school I think that technology can be a great thing. A lot of textbooks aren't even used anymore, because most information you will need can be found on the internet. Instead of having to search for a subject in a book, you can easily find your answer online. Technology has definitely advanced work, studying, and testing in school. This is a really great thing.

Now my opinion for technology in social life is somewhat different. I think in you social life at times technology can be a good thing, but it can also have a negative effect. Social networking on our phones is supposed to connect us to each other, but instead of meeting face to face, we are texting, face-timing, calling, posting, clicking, and sending. What happened to being with your friends? What happened to meeting someone in person? What happened to only knowing what your friends were doing because you were with them, or because they told you themselves? Yes, I think technology can be a great thing, and it does connect us in more ways than one. But as far as social life goes, I think that instead of being social and looking up from our phones, we are now going online to see what everyone is doing, while we are alone reading it. Using emoticons to show emotions, instead of someone seeing it on our faces.
